Raees (English: Wealthy) is an upcoming 2016 Indian crime-thriller film directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Gauri Khan under the banners of Excel Entertainment and Red Chillies Entertainment.
The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to be released on Eid 2016.
Plot
Set in 1980s Gujarat, it shows the story of a cruel and clever bootlegger (played by Shah Rukh Khan) whose business is highly challenged and eventually thwarted by a tough cop Ghulam Patel (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui).The film criticizes the prohibition of alcohol, prostitution and illegal drugs in Gujarat.Cast

Production
Shooting of the film began in April 2015.Although the film is based on Gujarat, there won't be any shooting in Gujarat as such given the bitter aftermath Rahul Dholakia's earlier movie Parzania which was based on 2002 communal riots received in the state. Moreover, Khan's larger than life image too is cited for not shooting in the slums of Ahmedabad given how crowd emerges when he comes to the city.
